We were excited that many of you were able to attend the Connect Illinois Virtual Town Hall hosted by Jim Broemmer, Adams CEO, via Zoom on Thursday, July 29, 2021!

Here is a brief summary of the long-awaited updates on this multi-million dollar expansion project, timelines and expectations for pre-determined build-out areas.

Connect Illinois Broadband Grant Program

Why is it taking so long?

  • New program requirements
  • Brand new program for the state to work through
  • Latest issues are material shortages and shipping delays

Construction Goals

  • Small segments may see construction activity in the Fall of 2021
  • Construction may begin late Spring of 2022
  • Project should be completed in 2022 if no unforeseen issues arise with receipt of project materials

USDA ReConnect Grant Program

Why is it taking so long?

  • Working with United States Dept. of Agriculture and federal government takes time
  • Changes in administration, reduced staff, COVID-19, required redesign and taking project to bid

Construction Goals

  • Project should be started and completed in 2022 if no unforeseen issues arise with receipt of project materials
